During the long dusty ten-mile drive to Caribbean Training College, Pearl Lindsay’s heart filled up with fear. It had been years since she had gone to school, and her confidence dissolved as she neared campus. What if she didn’t like her teachers? What if she couldn’t get good grades? What if the other students didn’t like her? But it didn’t take long for her fears to disappear. She fit right in with the school program—working at the broom factory, studying in the evenings, and coincidentally meeting that special someone in the hall between classes.
One evening during Week of Prayer the speaker said, “If you find your life humdrum—no ups, no downs, no temptations, no victories—then pray for a mountain. The Christian life is not stagnant. It must progress upward and upward and upward.”
Pearl thought about it and decided to follow the speakers advice. She read Philippians 4:19, “My God shall supply all your need.” And then she prayed for a mountain.
The answer to her prayer—a veritable mountain range—changed her life and the lives of those around her.
