What is it about Psalm 23 and its writer that minister to us? Whether we live in green pastures and waters of rest, or find ourselves in the valley of the shadow of death, we all can relate to the song of this sling hurling ancient shepherd boy who cried a lot and whose songs could soothe a crazed king.

David, the only person in the Bible called a man after God’s own heart, inspires us with his vulnerability and his yearning for intimacy with God. Each of us, in our own broken way, yearns for such an intimacy with God.

So join the author in exploring how a man like David—who was definitely human, definitely a sinner, definitely broken—could be viewed by an all-knowing God as a man after His own heart.

“But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart” (Acts 13:22 NLT).
